Buttons and Babies

Well...what a day!! The snow and ice storm is over us and we have already had 4 hours of no power. It is back up at the moment but the rain is beginning to freeze again and I am sure it will go out again before the night is over. I had to postpone my host club meeting so I am bummed to not be stamping with my favorite ladies tonight. Add that to a day with 5 active boys in the house (not all mine!) and my DH returning from his teen retreat in time to take my FIL to the hospital for some abnormal post surger pain. Calgon...take me away. Well, at least I can stamp for a few minutes!

What kind of stamper are you? In this case, what inspires you and where does it take you? My mind fixes on an idea and if I try to veer from it I am usually frustrated so I have learned to go with it. My dear friend Sue (Hi Sue!) gave me a Michaels gift card for my birthday and one of the things I bought was a set of Making Memories button brads. They are soooo cute! My brain fixed on the idea of buttons and babies so here is what I came up with. I hope you can see that the brads have holes in them to look like buttons. They come in 2 sizes and different color combos. I got the spring time colors which are pastels. The giraffe was stamped onto white but that seemed too plain so I cut him out and mounted him on bashful blue. I inked the tail and horns in chocolate chip and stamped them onto the blue (as well as the Amuse oval for the ground), that way I had more color going on and I didn't have to trim around those small areas making that job easier. I had a scrap of paper that had the corners rounded so I went with that and in the end I think it creates the look of apocket on a pair of overalls. I did faux stitching as well. The card base is barely banana stamped with Fontastic BG inked in so saffron to show up a bit better. The sentiment is from Greetings Galore and the chocolate polka dotted ribbon is American Crafts.

Love it! Now I have to go find those cute brads. Not sure if it's always a good thing to live so close to a Michaels store. (wink)
