Wild Hearts

By now you probably know I love background stamps. I have all but 2 in the SU catalog and those last 2 I probably won't ever buy. I LOVE clean designs like those of JulieHRR but personally can not stamp that way successfully very often. White space is my enemy, LOL!!!! I don't mean it to be, it is just how my brain is wired, at least for now. One of the latest BG stamps to join my pile is Wild Hearts. Unfortunately, there are very few samples using it. Last night I had a chance to play a bit and made a couple of cards with that as my starting point. Here is the first, used in a more traditional, obvious fashion.

The card base is sahara sand with the fold at the top. I stamped the BG with cranberry crisp ink. The CC panel is stamped in CC ink with the Canvas BG stamp. The heart stamp was inked in CC and then I used a chocolate chip marker on the edges and the letter before stamping it onto natural ivory card stock. I used my hobby blade to cut away the heart around the letter and mounted it with dimensionals onto CC. The cut out adds a little interest with the shadows. I tried backing it with a piece stamped in French Script but it seemed too busy. The ribbon is chocolate grosgrain and the heart charm I think I got at Joanns awhile ago. The sentiment is from the Olive You set.
Tomorrow I will share some tips I have found helpful in using these large background stamps and another Wild Heart background used on a non-heart card.

I simply love this card. Valentines Day is my favorite card-making holiday and this is one of the cutest love cards I've seen this year. Way to go!

That's too, too funny. I saw your card and read your first few lines and thought, "I'm going to ask if she has any tips on using those giant stamps." And then, whattya know, promises for tomorrow! I will be anxiously waiting. Thanks for sharing all of your talent.

Tracy, I'm a BG stamp lover too! I'm still mourning the loss of my Houndstooth and Linograph from last year! I have all the BG stamps in the catalog except Ephemera (ugh) and Wild Hearts. You might convince me to get Wild Hearts. Which 2 are you missing? I'm guessing Ephemera is one of them?
