Green Thumb

I submitted a few cards to PaperTrey for their monthly contest, in this case samples using the new Green Thumb set. The contest is over and my cards weren't chosen so I thought I would post them here.

The first one has a hanging vellum tag in a circle window. I stamped the flower with a purple chalk ink and added a clear rhinestone. The window is punched through the celery layer as well as the front of the card. The scalloped border was done by first punching a circle from a piece of lovely lilac card stock and then centering in the scallop punch. The vellum tag is adhered in between the celery layer and the front of the card to hide the string. I curved the stem onto the block before stamping it. I kept it simple to keep the focus on the vellum tag window.

The second card used the boots. They are so cute!! I used naturals ivory card stock for this. The boots were stamped with a red chalk ink and the yellow accents are summer sun. The one boot is cut out and mounted on a dimensional. I added chocolate chip ink to create a mud puddle. DH thought it might have won if I had made it dog pooh instead, LOL!! The bottom of the card is the Cornish Heritage Farm Reverse Polka Dots background. The scalloped piece on the bottom was created with an oval scallop punch. I punched it once and re inserted it in the punch to make it smaller. How was that for making sense??!! I know it photographs black but the accent color on this is chocolate.
Have a great day!

Cute cards, especially love the boots. Glad you wrote about the scalleop ring - I tried punching the scallop first and then punching out the middle circle (didn't center!). Good to read the blogs and get tips on how to do stuff the right way *LOL*!

Oh man what great cards - both of them! I especially love the window with tag flower one ... what a fabulous idea!! So super glad I was NOT one of the judges for that whole thing. How on earth do you just pick 2 out of so many great cards out there?
