Cuttlebug Fun!

I finally got a chance to stamp today. The boys are nearing the end of school, playing soccer and I worked more days than usual this week. Not to mention the kitchen! My FIL was here again for a couple of days and we are coming very near to the end of the mess making. One more coat of plaster on the drywall and then it will be time for paint. I just want the dust to go away!

I took out a pad of DCWV paper I bought at least 2 years ago and played around a bit with the Cuttlebug. The paper has a Bazzill-like texture to it and a white core so after embossing it with various CB folders, I rubbed my sanding block over it to expose the white a bit. It is quick to do and really adds a fun element.
My first card I intended to make into a window card but did more of a mock window instead. The bird and flower are dollar stamps that came out at Easter. I cut the flower out and mounted onto foam for more dimension.

The second card is going to be a card for one of my sons to celebrate school being out. I just got the Pun Fun set and it fit the bill for a whimsical card. The balloon is cut out and popped up. I kept the embellishments to a minimum on all these cards. A few brads was about it. Underneath the card is the Mat Stack I used. I know they still sell these, not sure about these exact colors though.

The last card I did uses the Tart and Tangy set from the mini catalog. I almost held out but in the end couldn't resist! I used the Swiss Dots folder on the paper and sanded just a tad to make the tops of the dots white. It screamed strawberries to me! I had a thin strip of the celery paper left from the first card so I used it to make a faux ribbon. Look close and you will see that I used a tracing wheel across the strip of paper, twice, making it look a bit like stitched ribbon. I thought using a gel pen on it would over power the card but I really like the subtle effect the tracing wheel gives. I used rose red and certainly celery for the strawberries, the red was the closest match I had to the paper. The celery tops are popped up on dimensionals. I will most likely add a sentiment when I send this but for now, I am leaving it as is.
These aren't fancy by any means but the embossed/distresses paper and popped up accents make them more than average. I am just grateful I had a chance to stamp ;).

Very cute ideas. I just bought a Cuttlebug and have two of the three folders you used...I'll have to try these out.

These cards just prove that you don't need tons of supplies and embellishments to make a beautiful card. My fave is the strawberry one!
