Sunday Stuff

We have already had a full day today! After church my in-laws took us all out for dinner to celebrate my birthday this week. Talk about a fantastic meal!! I am still stuffed. My son made me 2 wonderful gifts on his lathe. One was a wooden rolling pin, the handle-less kind, and a letter opener with a beautifully turned acrylic handle. Check out the photo below. He may only be 12 but he makes the most incredible stuff!! And that is more than just proud mama talk.

I officially opened up registration for the 2nd Annual WNY Spring Fest in April. This is a Splitcoast all-day stamping event that will be held on April 25. If you live in Ontario Canada, western or central NY, NW PA or even Ohio, check out the this thread for full details. We had a blast last year and this year will be no different!!
Since we were gone most of the day, I haven't had much time for stamping but I did want to check out today's Featured Stamper on SCS. This week it is Jaydekay. She has lots of amazing creations in her gallery but I went with this simple one. Here is my take
I have the exact background stamp she used but I chose instead to use the Curved Rectangle Spellbinders die to create an embossed frame. I kept the die in place while I sponged on baja breeze ink. The bird is by Inkadinkado, it works beautifully don't you think? The sentiment is from SU's Thank You Kindly Set. I also added some black glaze pen accents for some subtle texture.
TIP: If you are unsure of where to place your sentiment, use your Stamp-a-ma-jig! Stamp the sentiment first onto the clear sheet and then move it over your project until you find the perfect placement. Ink up your stamp and use the SAMJ guide to get it right where you want it. I love clear sentiment stamps because they make it so easy to to get it where you want it but I have so many wonderful wood mounted sentiments and this little tip helps with using those!
I have a great week of projects lined up for you! Thanks for visiting!
