Tag Maker Throwdown!!

Laura Fredrickson has a New Year's resolution to use her stash. Like many of you, and me, she has years of purchases that have been neglected. How quickly we move onto the new things! To make it more fun, she threw out a challenge to anyone wanting to take her on, one on one, using a myriad of stuff. Bring it on!! I challenged her to use the Making Memories Tag Maker. I got mine for Christmas last year (that would be 2007!) and I think I used it once or twice. Of course she had one!

Well, today is the day. Laura is sharing hers on her blog so I invite you to hop over there to see what she came up with. The woman has mad skills with stamps, paper and ink, if you have never been to her site, you will find many a splendid creation!! Here is what I did for the challenge...

I love challenges because the force me to think beyond the ordinary. It helped that I had a week to work on it too! I finally decided on a jar project, in this case a glass jar I got from Provocraft last year when they were on clearance. It originally came with a dark green top which was not going to work with my Valentines theme. So, I spray painted it an off white color. Well, I thought, if I could spray paint the lid, I should be able to spray paint the tag! And I did. For the actual tag I sewed a few pieces together from the Basic Grey Bittersweet collection and layered it onto some chocolate chip card stock. I like the extra weight the layers give the tag. The heart was punched out using the new SU trio of hearts punch from the Love You bundle. I added a heart brad from my stash as well as some ribbon I got from one of Jody's ribbon shares last year. I made a matching card to go with it...just because.

It was all such fun that I had to make another. Here is a simpler idea for a card...

I used some Muirfield DP from SU and the Party Hearty stamp set. I took some white grosgrain ribbon and ran it across my Pacific Point ink pad so it would better match but I think it came out a bit too dark.

Thanks Laura for a great challenge!!
