School's Out for Summer
Challenge Focus: Create a project that screams school's out for summer. Do you like the beach, camping, the mountains, bbqing, you name it, whatever screams summer to you is fair game.

When I think of summer, I think of picnics, swimming, camping, going to the lake and canning. As soon as school is over, the boys and I go strawberry picking. I put up a ton of strawberry freezer jam and this year I also tried some strawberry rhubarb and cooked strawberry jam. Later in the summer it is all about the salsa and peach jam. It is especially delightful now that our kitchen has been reno'd. So, a strawberry theme seemed perfect for this challenge. Here is what I came up with...
There is actually very little stamping on this but all the distressing makes up for it! I've made pumpkins out of punches before, why not strawberries? I used the wide oval punch with real red card stock and then embossed them with the CB Swiss Dots folder. I used the reverse sides and in the dimples I dotted a black glaze pen to crate the seeds. The shine of the glaze pen creates a nice touch. The leaves are made with the 5 petal flower punch and I used old olive textured card stock for added depth. As you can see everything is distressed. I used some Cosmo Cricket Early Bird paper and stitched it onto some vanilla that was punched with a Martha Stewart punch. The ribbon is SU's black gingham and I sponged it with walnut Distress ink so it wasn't so stark white.
The tag is one I purchased at Joanne's ages ago, I cut it down a tad and punched the bottom border. The label is a combo of 2 Paper Trey sets--Green Thumb and Holiday Treats. I made the tag after tying on the ribbon so, to attach it, I cut a slit at an angle from the top to the hole and slipped it over the ribbon. Perfect fix!
Strawberry season is a wonderful thing!

Tracy - I LOVE this! I just now sat down at the computer to take a little break - I just made 3 batches of strawberry freezer jam! When the kids were little (they're all grown and gone now!), we used to go strawberry picking and I'd go into mass production, making jam for a couple of days straight! Now my ankle won't let me be on my feet all day, and we don't have the helpers to go picking, so I get the berries at the Farmer's Markets - but they're Michigan berries! Can you believe that so many people don't know the difference between California and Florida strawberries that we buy in the stores, and REAL strawberries grown semi-locally??! One of my DD's married a guy who likes his jam with a little toast on the side - he would eat a pint of jam in one meal if you'd let him! She had to teach him how to eat less at a time, so it lasts all year!! We too had our kitchen re-done, and that summer, there was no jam-making! And my SIL had to eat store-bought! So now that DD always comes and helps, because they eat SO much of it! But she's in grad school this year and it hasn't worked out. That's okay - I love being appreciated! So I'm providing jam for all of us. And my oldest DD her her DH have a little girl who is 15 months old and she likes jam sandwiches - with Grammy's jam, of course! And I just might have to make the cute little girlie animal cracker box for her! Thanks for sharing!

Hey Tracy. Isn't it fun making jam and/or cards in the new kitchen!! I LOVE this wonderful creation. Your berry is adorable (gotta try it) and I LOVE your s'mores box as well (now I WANT that set too!!). I did bunches of rhubarb/str/pineapple jam, but the guys are plowing through it.
