Piecing It Together!

Well, we have returned from family camp. We got home in enough time to unpack, do laundry and re-pack the boys for camp again. This week they will be at Covenant Acres, a camp they go to every summer. You know what that means?? A kid-less week for DH and I! Wahoo!! There is that little thing called work but I hope it also means lots of time to stamp and maybe even time to catch a movie.
I am participating in week 2 of the Cornish Heritage Farm summer challenge and this week the focus is on paper piecing. I made this card before I left last week but ended up tweeking it just a tad before uploading it to their gallery.

It uses 2 sets by Kim Hughes, Spring Trees and Tag! You're It. All the designer paper is from DCWV's Green Stack line. That paper is fun and made from mostly recycled materials. I created a frame using Spellbinders Curved Rectangle dies, embossed it with a Cuttlebug die, distressed the raised portions with ink and popped it up onto dimensionals. The sky and grass were colored in with Copics. I added a wooden button from PTI and some wide grosgrain ribbon.

You still have until tomorrow to upload one of your creations for the challenge. You can't win if you don't enter!! A $50 gift certificate to CHF is worth the effort.

I usually share most of our family blah blah on our family blog but I wanted to share one of the highlights of our week at camp. On Thursday night they had a baptismal service at the lake (yes, that would be cold, rough, Lake Ontario). There were 23 people in all that got baptized, young and old. They asked DH and our good friend Mike, to baptize several of the children. Mike and Greg grew up together and Mike is now the youth pastor at our old church. Who would have thought all those years ago that the two of them would end up in ministry AND have the privilege of doing baptisms together? It is so cool to see how God weaves our lives!! This photo really says it all...

Thanks for visiting!! Definitely look for more from me this week. I am ready to stamp, stamp, stamp!

Well girl, I LOVE your Cornish Heritage Farms card....you should do well this week with it, it's fabulous. A great sense of pattern and color.

And how you precious that baptism shot! I cry at every single baptism, so powerful to see God's work in people's lives as they follow Him!

Have a FUN kid-less week! We have VBS here this week.

Great card, Tracy! I am really loving the funky trees sets lately. I keep pondering the SU! one.
And the photo of Greg and his friend is wonderful. How neat that they can share their ministry together.

Congratulations on your win! I had left a comment on your card in the CHF gallery, but it is worth commenting again. So pretty and those spellbinders nestie shapes are calling my name. :)
And yes, baptisms are so cool, glad you got a pic. I always cry when they perform baptisms at our church and I bet they're glad they're indoors and not in a chilly lake! :) But it doesn't really matter where, now they're part of God's family, hurray!

Congrats!! I am so happy for you! I remember when I first saw your card -thinking this looks like a winner. In fact, I was going to list the individual elements I enjoyed and it was turning in to a list of everything so I hit backspace and had to go to the all inclusive comment : ) Have fun shopping!!

I love how you put this card together. I own this set but have not used these trees - this makes me want to go grab my stamps and get to work! Thank you for this beautiful inspiration. ~Paula K.
