All Aboard!

Trains bring such wonderful memories to mind. When I lived in Germany as a kid, my Oma would come visit us by train and sometimes I would even get to go with her when she returned home. I remember vividly the smell of the station, the compartments we would ride in, the hours spent watching from the window. I was fascinated by the bathrooms. They were teeny tiny compartments and when you "flushed" the toilet, it was simply a flap that dumped out onto the tracks. Of course back then I wasn't thinking about the sanitary nature of it all, lol. Just a few years ago I had the opportunity to travel to Romania on a missions trip. I swear they were using the same trains I rode in as a kid. Considering the economy of that country I could very well be right. The smells were just as I remembered them. And yes, the toilets still dumped onto the tracks.

Cornish Heritage Farms is releasing a new train set today, part of their B&O Railroad line, called The Engineer.

I was so excited to get this set! It came yesterday, just in time for me to create some samples for today's release. If you find yourself challenged by masculine cards, this set is made for you!

On this card, I used some paper from October Afternoon's Road Map paper pad. I used Versafine Onyx black ink to capture all the great detail in the stamp. The embellishment reads "journey" and comes from Tim Holtz. Clean and simple!

This next card is my favorite...

I love the silhouette of the conductor. Again I used some of the Road Map paper pack, distressing the edges with Distress ink. I used the EK Success border punch on the edge of the "ticket". The sentiment came to mind and to keep with the black accents, I used my Dymo label maker to quickly punch it out.

I have an uncle who is an avid train collector. He is impossible to buy for but I know I can at least make him a card he'll like.
