Dirty Dinners

Good Sunday morning to you! Our church event yesterday was a HUGE success! We had more people than ever before and the weather could not have been more perfect! I think we fed more than 500!
Today is another monthly Dirty Dozen challenge. Betty (gbedwright) hosted us this month.

The challenge: Share at least one tried and true prepared entree recipe in decorative paper crafting format of choice.
Restricted element: none

Required element: it must be a recipe we have really cooked, lol.

I have been slowly adding recipe cards to my computer for months now. My plan is to print them up at some point and give them to my boys when they leave the house. I also like to give them as wedding shower gifts. This challenge gave me the opportunity to put one of our favorites to paper. I use a postcard format on the computer so they print out 4 to a page, the perfect size for a card.

I made a pocket card to hold the recipe card. The paper is from Jillibean Soup. I used an EK success punch for the border. The wide scallops are fun and 3 punches fit perfectly across. Since I didn't have room to adhere my sides down, I wrapped the ribbon all the way around the card, brought it up through 2 holes in the front and tied it down. There are additional dimensionals behind the border to keep it held down.

If the style of the recipe card looks familiar, it is because I adopted Michelle Wooderson's format and fonts. Why mess with perfection? There isn't much stamping on my card except for the "Yum Scale" and "from the kitchen of" which come from SU's set, From the Kitchen Of". I also used circle punches, the Curly Label punch and some ribbon.

For the challenge, I chose our absolute favorite recipe...Ham Rice Casserole. This recipe is one I found many years ago and when it got 100% approval from DH and the boys, it became a "keeper". It was one meal that I could count on getting eaten. And the boys seem to eat larger portions than normal. I keep a container of crushed cornflakes in the pantry because otherwise, the cereal always seems to be gone when I need it, lol.

Ham Rice Casserole
2 cups cooked rice
2 cups cubed ham
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
5oz can evaporated milk (1/2 c)
1 can cream of chicken soup
2-4 T chopped onion
10 oz frozen chopped broccoli
3 T butter, melted
3/4 cup crushed cornflakes

Preheat oven to 375°. Combine all ingredients except butter and cornflakes. Spoon into a greased casserole dish. Combine butter and cornflakes, put over top of casserole. Bake for 40 minutes or until heated through and topping is lightly browned.

Serves 8

Hope you enjoy! I am off to church. Have a great day.

I love this! I gotta get that border punch; it fits perfectly! Thanks for sharing the details on the ribbon; what a great idea to hide it and also make it functional. This is so cute; makes me wanna make some too! ΓΌ

Can you post the file with the fonts you used? Or point us on where to get it?
