Little Birds Sneak

Thursday is the official opening of the Shady Tree Studios store so I thought I would share a sneak peek at one of the sets Nancy will be releasing. This one is called "Little Birds" and it contains several lovely floral stamps in addition so 2 bird images.

I stamped one of the floral images repeatedly along the top of the Basic Grey pattern paper. It is tone on tone for a more subtle look. I colored the peaceful bird with Copics. To me he just looks like he is pondering something wonderful.

So you know I have postage issues and I generally like to keep my embellishments to a minimum. I do have a but to add....unless I am doing a no layer card, I always lift up parts of my cards with dimensionals/foam tape/Jody's boosters. DO NOT underestimate the effect of a few well placed dimensionals! It is the first thing my hubby looks for when I show him a card. I know the photo makes my card look flat but the bird image is up on several pieces of foam. That's my tip for the day ;).

I have to share a funny with you. On Saturday our church did a big event for the community. One of the new displays was a primate rescue place that brought 4 different monkeys along to show. My youngest was quite fascinated and came home telling me all about the "sitting pads" that monkeys have. Apparently theirs are not called butts, but rather sitting pads. The larger the monkey, the larger their sitting pads. Did the image of the big red baboon butt (ahem, I mean sitting pad) enter your mind? I made a joke about the large size of my own sitting pad and was quickly informed that their sitting pads are made of a thicker, callous like material. Since mine is quite jiggly it clearly isn't a sitting pad. Not sure if there's a compliment in there or not, lol! I love that kid!!

From the mouths of babes (boys)! Love it. I love the honest comments I get from my grandson. Anyway, maybe it's our nice small post office, but I have never had a mailing issue. I put my cards with their fronts to the back (flap) part of the envelope so the front is flat. Never mailed really bumpy cards, but cards with pop ups, ribbons, or beads never caused a return.

Hi Tracy, cute, cute card!Love the paper, tone on tone, and stamps. My husband likes to make jokes about the "sitting pads" when we're at the zoo. It is really funny, but the "data observers" get ticked. They really do look painful! Rea
