With Sympathy

Sympathy cards can be a challenge. Maybe it is the sad occasion or not knowing the right thing to say to someone who is grieving. Yet a kind note can be such a blessing to someone experiencing a loss.
I decided to make my shoebox swap for Saturdays SCS gathering a sympathy bookmark card. I must add that the new set Close As a Memory is fantastic and has such wonderful sentiments included that it makes these cards easier.
The mellow moss card base is 11 x 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4. I used the perforating tool at 8 1/2 to create the fold in bookmark. The bookmark card was popular last year so you may have seen one before. The front is wheeled with the Watercolor Vine wheel in always artichoke ink. The flowers are cameo coral with ruby red centers and the stems are mellow moss with hints of artichoke stamped onto confetti white card stock. The sentiment was stamped in chocolate chip ink. There is moss grosgrain along the bottom of the chocolate chip layer and the entire panel is on dimensionals.
For the bookmark, I copied and pasted Psalm 23 from blueletterbible.com, sized it for my needs and printed it on the computer. Psalm 23 is a common one for such circumstances and someone may like the bookmark as a keepsake. Another sentiment from the set is stamped on the inside.
Our church is quite large and unfortunately sympathy cards are needed often so I have made up a batch to have handy. A card, especially a handmade one, can bring someone such encouragement and comfort. If you struggle with sympathy cards I hope this will provide you some inspiration!
Blessings to you this day!!

I absolutely love it. Sympathy cards ARE so hard. Love the Psalms 23 on the bookmark part too.

I get your updates because I LOVE all your cards.

Tracy - what a beautiful and thoughtful card. It is peaceful. I struggle with sympathy cards - love the idea of the bookmark and will do that next time.
