Button Blooms

Today we go retro! This card all started with a button. I found these mondo size buttons at Walmart a few weeks ago. They came 3 to a pack and are all different. The color is pretty close to cool caribbean with dark brown spots. It seemed a good fit for the center of one of the flowers in Big Blooms. The cool caribbean base is stamped with On the Spot background using chocolate chip craft ink and then embossed with clear EP. The flower is inked in coral cameo and then stamped with one of the stamps from Seeing Spots inked with rose red. I also used a rose red marker along the inside edge of the flower. Just a side note...I think the stem they packaged with the Big Blooms set is ridiculous!! It reminds me of the "Meet the Robinsons" movie trailer where the dinosaur can't get to the boy because his head is so big and his arms are so little!! I had a large brown brad from The Dollar Tree that I was able to fit through the holes of the button, that seemed more fitting than threading it with something. The sentiment along the side is from Take Three which I punched out with the Key Tag punch before attaching to the back of the panel.

Stampin' Up has released their list of retiring stamps today. I was hit hard as I imagine a lot of demos were since the list is the biggest ever at 244!! I have 74 items on the list and that may grow when we see which sets from the mini catalogs didn't make it. Deep breath....eat chocolate...

Blessings on your day!

Lovely card- I just got this set and can't wait to use it! I love the colors you used.

I'm fairly new to SU! - was wondering how the retired list would affect demos... I wonder do you sell those sets or just have to buy more??

I love your button middle...do I have to go roam the aisles at Wal-Mart now? Brilliant!

Love how you used the button for the flower center Tracy! That button is just too perfect and Retro looking.

Looks like you took the same kind of hit as I did (in regards to the retired sets). I'm hobby so it doesn't matter as much as for you serious minded business demo's, but it still hurts a little.
