Pretty Petals

Saturdays SCS event was fun!! How can you beat a full day of stamping, food and friends?? We did loads of fun projects and there were fun give aways and prizes. I wish I was better at connecting peoples names and faces, especially their SCS names but with each event I get a bit better.

This was my group swap card. I love the way it turned out. Why oh why do they have to retire Petal Prints? Do you remember a couple of weeks ago I shared with you about how I had colored whole sheets of Au Chocolat paper? This was why. After coloring it and allowing to it to dry, I cut it into the size I needed. I layered it onto a piece of almost amethyst and used my sewing machine to add a zig zig stitch along the left edge. When I started these cards I only had enough of the designer paper to complete 17 cards and I needed 35. I ordered more paper and when it arrived I immediately set out to finish my swaps. It may have been one the kids I watch or even my own boys but someone had turned some of the dials on my sewing machine. Now remember that I am still a newbie on the sewing machine so it took me about an hour to figure out why my machine wasn't working right!! I was near tears in frustration!! I took a deep breath and said a quick prayer and was able to figure it all out. Lesson learned...don't attempt to sew 35 swaps ever again!! As far as the rest of the card...I inked the flower from PP in sage, amethyst and lavender markers and stamped them 3 x's onto vanilla card stock. I added several drops of Crystal Effects to the petals. An unexpected but cool effect was that the CE made the ink underneath bleed a bit. It is definitely better in person. I sponged chocolate chip ink on all the edges and layered it onto a piece of sage shadow. I punched amethyst card stock with the round tab punch but it looked too plain so I used the punch to create slivers of chocolate card stock to add as an accent. They are a bit small to adhere but I like the look. I added some chocolate grosgrain ribbon as well. The stamped panel is up on dimensionals.
Thanks for visiting, have a great Monday!
