Which One?

I was finally able play along with a SCS challenge last week. I actually did 2!! Rox posted the dimensions for Wednesdays sketch and the first thing that came to mind was a microscope slide. The sketch was for a small rectangle image in the center of a wide open card front. I bought plastic slides several years ago that I do not think I have ever used. I thought they might make more light weight pins but instead they just made cheap looking pins, LOL!! But for this idea I needed a way to adhere the slide and figured if I used plastic I could put a hole through for a brad. Now, my first card did not make the cut. It was very similar to this white one that was my final pick but my flowers ended up too close to the top of the card. When I redid it I decided to make the flowers colored and when it was all done I just didn't like it as well as the white one and I wasn't sure about the distressed edges either. So I did a third one, white flowers, clean edges, centered flowers. I am usually not so fussy but for some reason on Wednesday I was in a mood!! I uploaded the white one for the challenge and then hubby tells me he likes the other one better. They are both fine, just different. What do you think??

I used teal blue Stazon to ink the slide and rubbed my finger over it to create a more wavy look. It took several minutes to dry. I used the small spray flower from PaperTrey's Green Thumb set with craft inks and then used an artichoke marker to draw in the stems. I did try leaves on the stems and it made it too busy looking. A white gel pen adds centers to the flowers. I used a hand held punch to create the holes in the slide and fastened the slide with some really shiny silver brads. The images are stamped onto kraft, layered onto white and then taken with teal card stock.
I tried to locate where I got the slides from as I had several inquiries about them. I thought it was Microscopedepot but when I checked there I couldn't find plastic ones. Ebay had several available so that is one place to try.
The family has been very busy getting the house ready for market. Hubby is working to finish the deck on the pool, we opened the pool, planted some flowers and I am inside trying my best to make it show worthy. It is leaving little time for stamping so I am not sure what the week holds.
I hope you will take time today to remember the men and women who have lost their lives in service to our country. My dad was in the Air Force and served in Vietnam. He has since passed. We try to get to Memorial Day Parade each year and I always have the most difficult time when the vets pass by. I also want to make sure to remember those that continue to put themselves in harms way for my freedom.
Blessings on your day!

I love the first one !!! Absolutely gorgeous !!! I tried to post a comment the other day but for some reason it didn't work. I check out your blog everyday and I've never left a comment but I really wanted to encourage you as you begin a new chapter in your life and I wanted to thank you for your honesty in struggling with leaving your home church and moving where God is leading you. I know obedience isn't always easy but it's always the right thing to do....even when we don't always see His big picture. I wanted to encourage you with a verse I often go to when I need to be reminded of His love and caer for me. Jeremiah 29:11 - 12 "For I KNOW the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plan for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. If you look for me in easnest, you WILL find me, when you seek me. I WILL be found by you", says the Lord. Please know I'm praying for you and your family and that God has plans and a future for you even when you don't fully see it.

Take care.

The second one is pretty, but when I saw the first one I said "OH, Wow" So I guess my pick would be #1 :)

I love the white one too! I have glass slides but I'm too afraid they would break on a card so I tend to not use 'em. LOL.

It was interesting reading your other comment....someone once gave me a cardfront with that verse (shortened version of it) printed on vellum. I have always loved it and wanted to make some. I will have to get to it!

They're both wonderful for that layout, but I'm a sucker for white on Kraft paper, so I do prefer the first version. So gorgeous! Thanks for sharing them. Linda

I would choose the 2nd one because of the added colors.
