Challenge Time

Today is the 20th so that means it is time once again for the Dirty Dozen challenge. This months restricted element was to use stamps and embellishments that we have had for a long time, nothing newly purchased. The required portion is to send our card out to another DD gal. As a bonus we could use a technique we hadn't used in awhile.

Of course, I had all month to do this challenge and waited until the last minute. I knew Roses in Winter would be my stamp choice, it is one of my oldest and most loved sets. I also dragged out of hiding my Hodgepodge Hardware and my Charbon designer paper that I believe has been retired. As the bonus I used the faux linen technique. I don't think I have ever used my RIW on glossy card stock before. I used sahara sand to create the faux linen and that gave it a warm and old look. My inks were coral cameo, regal rose, rose red, mellow moss, always artichoke, so saffron. The saffron panel is also stamped with the French Script background, one of the first backgrounds I ever puchased, maybe even the first. I also finally figured out what was wrong with my sewing machine. I had the bobbin threaded wrong...no wonder! I still can't stitch straight though, lol! Oh well, one problem at a time.

It was good to stamp again, my time lately has been taken up with classes, workshops and the SCS April event. All good stuff mind you, it just didn't leave much time for personal stamping therapy.

Gorgeous card! This is still one of my favorite stamp sets too. An oldie but goodie! I'll have to get it out and play.

Tracy, what a beautiful card! I kept Roses in Winter too--never liked a rose set since that one, really. Your layout, colors, and the details (like the stitching)are perfect!
