Ghost in the Machine

Today is the day of the SCS Dirty Dozen monthly challenge. This time we were hosted by Emily (waterpixie) and this is what she threw down:

Challenge Focus: make a Halloween card or treat holder

Required Element: googlie eyes

Restricted Element: NO pumpkins

I went with a treat holder inspired by Angie Tieman. Check out her sample here. She provided great instructions for putting this holder together.

As you all know by now, I am pretty limited in my Halloween stamp selection. I guess it just makes it a true "challenge" then. I knew I wanted to go with a ghost with googlie eyes but the one stamp I had wasn't big enough to fit the bill. Hmmmm, cutting my own ghost out of cardstock was my only option. This was made way easy but first using the new SU Wide Oval punch and then just cutting the bottom edge. Worked great!! I dug out some old chipboard shapes and found this frame that was the perfect size and shape. I did ink it up with black ink first to tone down the naked chipboard color and then used Heat & Stick powder to apply some black Martha Stewart glitter. I think the frame is my favorite part!. The background is green galore stamped with a PTI spider from the Spooky Treats set. The purple sentiment at the top of the frame is also from that set. I used a CHF backgrounder on the pumpkin Top Note pieces and sponged around all the edges. I think you can figure the rest out. Angie has all the dimensions on her blog for the box and assembly.

This holder is a nice size and easy to do, just think of the possibilites!

You can check out the rest of the DD challenge submissions here. There will be posts added all day I am sure so if you don't see many now, check back again later.

Have a great Monday!
