Gettin' Ready...

for company. This weekend we have friends and family staying at the house for Spring Fest. I enjoy having guests if for no other reason than it means a clean house. Company provides that extra push to clean and tidy and gives me leverage with my sons to clean their rooms. It sometimes also means odd jobs on our list finally get done.

Several months ago we bought an old solid wood, 5 panel door with the idea of making it into a table. We found the door at a Habitat for Humanity store for pretty cheap. Next were the table legs which I got from Ikea (love that place!). The last piece was to have a glass top made to fit. I don't think anyone can accuse us of rushing into things, lol. I finally ordered the glass top and today Greg and I put it all together. I love it!! It has character. It's different. It is fun!

It's also a pain to photograph because of the glass but I wanted to share it anyway. We are using the chairs we had and will be looking for some extras at garage sales this summer. Definitely no matchy-matchy on this one. Here is a look at the full table.

Our old table only sat 4, we think this will comfortably seat 8 and maybe as many as 10. We have room at the island for 4 so plenty of room for a party.

This is a better shot of the top. You can see the panels in the door. You could display items in those panels I suppose, but I plan to leave it just like it is.
Well, I have lots more cleaning to do so I better get to it. Oh, and I had better add Windex to my shopping list!

Very Cool! I love it when projects finally get done. I have the flower pins for you to display (at least 3 different ones), and I have the candle holder made of roof flashing ready as well. Do you need them sooner than Saturday? lmk!

Fantastic table, I love the idea of reusing the door in that way - looks like a great party venue to me!
