Thoughts of Chocolate Kiwi

I love this tree from SU's set, Thoughts & Prayers! It is so lovely.

In a recent class, there was a request for sympathy cards and this was one of the cards we made. Simple color scheme of chocolate chip and kiwi kiss but we did a few things to make the card above average. We used some DP from a pack of SEI I purchased at Michael's, it has great earthy tones and patterns. The tree was inked in chocolate chip craft ink and embossed with clear EP. We added kiwi kiss over top of the leaves using a blender pen, the embossed parts nicely resist the ink. As a finishing touch we made a ribbon rose. My friend, Christine, showed a photo tutorial on her blog on how to make these cool roses. She learned it at a Regional convention in March. They take a bit of practice but once you "get" it, they are super fun. I have a few things to take care of at work today and then I have the rest of the day to myself. A very rare occurrence these days.
Update on the mission trip crew: I have spoken with DH a few times and they arrived in Gulf Port, MS at 9pm Monday. Yesterday they had their first work day and got a lot done. They are doing many finishing jobs on a house so hopefully a homeowner will be able to move in really soon. That is exciting! DH also took a dip in the Gulf, something that he wasn't able to do on his last trip there. The raw sewage was still pouring into the Gulf and the debris was so bad it was dangerous to go into the water. I am glad to hear there has been so much progress in the last 2 years.
Thanks for stopping by!
