A Case of Recessed Window

Happy Hump Day!! The weekend is in sight.
One of the prizes we gave away at the WNY SCS Spring Fest was a basket of cards donated by past and current Dirty Dozen gals. Since they were sent to me, I got to oogle them for a few weeks before parting with them to the winner. Even in the best photos, you miss so much of the dimension, texture and weight of the cards. The ladies sent amazing cards, as you can imagine. One in particular caught my attention, this one by Linda Bullard. She made that card for the recessed window technique challenge back in March but as per usual, she added her own incredible touches. She didn't post a photo of the inside of her card, it jacked up the WOW factor for sure!! As soon as I saw it, I knew I HAD to case it.
Here is my version of Linda's awesome card...

The card measures 5 1/4" square and instead of layering the window onto a card front, she incorporated it into the card, so there is a 1/4" spine to this card to accommodate the thickness of the window. My card base is black, the DP is from SU's Walk in the Park and the stamped panel is on shimmer white. I used the Fresh Cuts set and reinkers to watercolor the image (kiwi kiss, tangerine tango, baja breeze, so saffron). Some of the black images on the stamp didn't get enough coverage so I went over them with a black marker. In person, the shimmer of the card stock makes the black look like onyx stone. I added a Big Shot Little Leaf Sizzlit die to the front, under the sentiment.
Here is a look at the card from the side, so you can see the 1/4" depth a bit better, it looks much like a shadow box and the card itself a bit like a book with the wider spine.

Here is a shot at the inside of mine...

The window recesses into the inside of the card, so the left panel is raised 1/4" on the inside. I love the drama to be found on every page!! Again, I used the Little Leaf Sizzlit die on the left. On the white panel on the right, I used the reverse part of the die cut card stock as a stencil. The sentiment is from Unity Stamps.
Linda ROCKS, I hope you will check out her gallery!
Thanks for stopping by today.

Oh this is gorgeous Tracy, that recessed frame idea is so eyecatching. I was just thinking how neglected this set is. You've really given it life.
