Simple Friendship Meets Ever After

Dawn Easton shared a fab tutorial on her blog awhile back for a candle holder. You can see her beautiful holder and tutorial here.

I usually have a long list of ideas to try in my head and I was in the mood for a 3-D project. I paired SU's Simple Friendship with Cosmo Crickets Ever After paper for my holder. The so saffron and basic gray colors were taken straight from the paper...aren't these colors just lovely?!
I even covered a plain white candle to match. I hadn't covered a candle in years but it is a fairly simple thing to do and creates a great coordinated project. What? You say you have never covered a candle before? Here is a quick how-to...
1) cut a piece of white tissue paper to fit your candle
2) stamp on the tissue paper as desired
3) wrap your candle with the tissue paper
4) Have ready a piece of wax paper slightly wider and several inches longer than your tissue paper
5) wrap the wax paper around the candle and tissue paper, using the left over length as a tail to hang onto, this will save your fingers from getting burned!
6) carefully, wave your heat gun over the candle until you see it start to moisten. This is really the only tricky part, if you heat it too much it will melt and drip. You only want the candle surface to slightly melt so the tissue paper fuses with the candle. Once you have gone around the entire candle, remove the wax paper to see how you are doing and touch up any spots where the tissue paper still appears "dry". This whole process takes just minutes but you want to take a "slow" approach to heating the candle as it can quickly go from moist to melted! Ask me how I know?
Covering candles is fun and they make great favors and gifts. If you have never tried it before, buy a cheap candle from the dollar store, I promise it will look like more than a dollar when you finish!
Have a blessed day!

Other items used: Spellbinder Curved Rectangle and petite Scallop Circle dies, SU 1 3/4" circle punch, circle dimensional and sticky tape from Jody Morrow, EK Success Scalloped Edger Punch, SU's Wide Oval punch, So Saffron, Mellow Moss markers, black glaze pen

What a gorgeous project! I really love the yellow and gray together Tracy!

I feel like I've made a million of these candles. I used to personalize a candle with initials and date for every person that was baptized at church, now I've passed that little creative job to someone else :) It's so nice to see one so creatively done!

Hey, I'm impressed you can still keep yoiur lists in your head! I have to write mine down and I have lists all over the place!
Great project! Love the colors and papers!
Thanks for the note on my blog. Isn't it odd that the card was to be given on the very day I decided to post it?
Thanks, Tracy!
